MBA Entrance exams for MBA In India


The Common Admission Test (CAT) is an all-India test conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) as an entrance exam for the admission to the Post-graduate and Fellow Programs in management courses of several management institutes all over India including the IIMs.

The CAT score is used separately by each institute along with other parameters i.e. academic performance, work experience, written assessment and interview performance etc to select candidates. The weightage assigned to CAT score may differ for each institute. Candidates are advised to read the weightage process and breakup for each institute on their respective website

Eligibility :

The candidate must be a graduate with 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of SC/ST/DA/PWD) or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the ministry of HRD, Government of India.

Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. 

Reservation :

  • 15% - Scheduled Caste (SC)
  • 7½% - Scheduled Tribe (ST)
  • 27% - Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates belonging to the “non-creamy” layer.
  • 3% - Differently Abled (DA)

The Xavier Aptitude Test is an all-India test conducted by Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI) as an entrance exam for the admission to the post-graduate programs in management courses of several management institutes all over India.

Eligibility :

A candidate must be a graduate from a recognized university or a deemed university.

Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree and are awaiting results can also apply.

Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test is a common written test for the admission to all the Post-Graduate Institutes of Symbiosis International University. Written test is mandatory for admission into any Post-Graduate programme offered by the constituent institute of Symbiosis International University. However, it is only the first step. In addition, a candidate has to undergo the selection process of the desired Institute to qualify for the admission to the Post-Graduate programme of that Institute.

It is usually conducted in the month of December

  • There are 13 colleges under the Symbiosis group, a total of 18 programmes under them
  • The programmes can be applied to, by paying INR 1000 for each programme
  • TThere is no limit to the number of institutes or programmes one can apply to
  • Shortlisted candidates will have to attend a common Group Exercise-Interview process for the symbiosis institutes.

NMAT is the MBA entrance exam for admissions to Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS)

NMAT is the entrance exam for admission to all the MBA Full Time courses of NMIMS Mumbai and the PGDM courses of NMIMS Hyderabad and NMIMS Bengaluru.

A candidate can take NMAT-2012 up to a maximum of 3 times (first attempt plus 2 retake attempts) including no shows, if he/she wishes to. There has to be a gap of at least 15 days between two successive attempts

For candidates having multiple attempts, the best score (total and sectional) is considered for shortlisting purposes.

The result for each attempt is declared separately, approximately 15 days after the test attempt.


The candidate must be a graduate with 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in first attempt.

Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply subject to clearing the final examination in first attempt with 50% aggregate marks.

For all the Full Time programs, candidates with two or more years of post-qualification work experience will be preferred.

Note :

Candidates can choose the order of sections in NMAT.

Each of the three sections have individual section timings and candidates are supposed to answer and review the questions of a particular section within the allotted section time.

In case a candidate completes the section before the section time gets over, the balance time of the given section is not added to the next section(s). The next section has its own time limits needs to be completed in the allotted sectional time only.

MH-MBA/MMS-CET is a computer-based test for admission to the first year of Two-year Full Time Post Graduate Degree Courses in MBA/MMS and PGDBM/PGDM in Government, University Managed, University Departments and Unaided Institutes in the state of Maharashtra.


A candidate should have passed with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only) in Bachelor's degree of minimum three years duration in any discipline as recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.

Candidates appearing for the final year of the qualifying examination can also apply.

Maharashtra State and OMS candidates who have appeared for the CAT / GMAT / CMAT / MAT / XAT / ATMA / MH-CET are eligible for All India seats subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria. Such candidates are also required to fill and confirm online application form.

ATMA is an computer based management entrance test conducted by Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS). It is conducted in six cities – Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Raipur.

The paper consists of 180 questions, each carrying 1 mark, and a negative of 0.25 for each wrong answer. The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a National Entrance Test conducted by All India Management Aptitude Testing Service (AIMATS), for admission to MBA and equivalent programmes of the various participating institutes. The process comprises the following stages:

  • Written test
  • Pre-Interview Test (could be GD or Essay)

The written test is for 100 marks, the pre-interview test for 50 marks and the interview is allotted another 75 marks. A merit list is generated based on the aggregate of the above three scores for admissions.

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) admission test is a written exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade for their New Delhi and Kolkata campus.

Eligibility :

Recognized Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years’ duration in any discipline.

Candidates appearing for a qualifying examination can also apply subject to submission of proof of requisite qualification by beginning of October of the year of start of the course.

IIFT is the entrance test for admission to the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi and Kolkata. The test score of this entrance examination is used for admission for programmes offered at IIFT’s New Delhi and Kolkata Campus.

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was set up in 1963 by the Government of India as an autonomous organization. IIFT is one of the premier B-schools in India.
